Brief description of project |
We designed a new elementary school, which is located on a hill that commands a stunning view of the Pacific Ocean and Daiozaki light house. The library is located with a prime view of the glorious Pacific Ocean horizon. Based on the history of the school, we chose a gabled roof that creates an atmosphere of an old wooden building. We utilized longer eaves due to the high rainfall area. |

Brief description of project |
A lush green environment was created by planting species indigenous to the Setagaya area, under the theme of "A Residence Surrounded by Greenery" and "The Restoration of Setagaya's Original Scenery." The architecture is composed of 3 buildings in a simple U-shaped layout surrounding a central courtyard. Stemming from the word "SAWA" (tr: marsh) from the area name "KAMIKITAZAWA" (tr: Upper Northern Marsh); a "SAWA" was created in the central courtyard. On rainy days the rock bed changes to a wet color giving a completely different appearance from sunny days. |

Brief description of project |
This project is a construction of a flagship hospital in central part of Okinawa prefecture, Japan. It has 500 beds with advanced acute medical care including 24 hour operating emergency department. The building has seismic base isolation structure so that the hospital can function even in the case of disaster such as big earthquakes. It is also equipped with a heliport on the rooftop in order to accelerate the improvement of healthcare services of the neighboring isolated islands, which is one of the design concept of this hospital. The hospital is wide open to asian countries, getting certified the JCI international standards. |

Brief description of project |
The TENJIN CLASS is a composite facility, and the first to third floors are occupied by commercial tenants (product selling stores, restaurants, and offices), and the fourth to eighth floors are by the Fukuoka City Central Children’s Hall. I participated in the SPC, mainly Nishi-Nippon Railway Co., Ltd., for the reconstruction with aging of Fukuoka City Central Children's Hall, and I supervised the entire designing as a supervisor as the full-fledged Public-Private Partnership Business (PPP) conducted for the first time by Fukuoka City. I carried out the preparation of competition plan (basic plan) for selection of PPP business operators, basic design, implementation design, construction supervision, in cooperation with multiple architects and engineers, and conducted consultative coordination at each design stage. |

Brief description of project |
This is a redevelopment project of a local TV station to make it correspond to terrestrial digital broadcasting system. Considering that its main programs are redelivery of the contents of a key station, we tried to: 1) improve the utilization rate of the studios and broadcasting equipment; 2) offer a business model to rent out those facilities; 3) make “visibility” as its design motif. In order to realize the above, we proposed a curtain wall system that covers the exterior with the minimum kinds of members. |

A cross line that encourages connection between campus and people penetrates through the center of the building. Combining L of learning that integrates education and research functions and L of exchanges that develop interdisciplinary exchange functions and arranges three university cores of interdisciplinary,educational,and rest in a large pillar space born in the surrounded central part did. In the interchange L, we arranged an edge side corridor applying double skins, and the glass facade overlapped with the surrounding nature and environment, the activity of the students inside, and it became a symbol of the university that was opened. |

This is a distribution warehouse for boxed food in a room temperature built facing to the Belt Line running through Yao City. The warehouse is supported by the beams of more than 18 meters each and does not have any structural column. This method realized a large open space, and a large-sized lift (2 tons) equipped every floor can move any direction and handle the cargo efficiently. |

The location of this project is close to the area where landslides occurred a few years ago. Now, there are so many disasters all over the world, affected by the climate change. We considered what the people expect for architecture. Our answer is "" Being with people ,nature and future”. This kindergarten is the High-performance Building. We successfully designed 80% off energy building by high insulation and high air-tight. This low-energy-building can be a piece of solution regarding the world climate change. The benefit of the High-performance Building is not only with low energy, but also for children, who spend most of the time during the day can enjoy the pure atmosphere healthily with the pleasant temperature. This kindergarten also has a water well on the premises. If any disasters occur in the area, it can help the neighborhood not only the kindergarteners with water, as well as the space for evacuation. This building also protects people lives. |

It is a plan to rebuild an aging municipal nursery school. The site was a nearby city planning park, and while leaving the warehouse and cherry blossom trees in the park, a nursery school building, a garden, and a parking lot were arranged. The nursery room and management rooms for children aged 0 to 5 were connected by an open and bright atrium space to organize the flow lines. Furniture such as a secret base was also arranged, and a migratory space where children could enjoy playing around was planned. |

Brief description of project |
The facility is located across from the majestic Sanmon, the main gate to Chion-in, which is a national treasure of Japan. Wajun-Kaikan is opened to not only believers of Jodo-shu, for which Chion-in is a head temple, but also to the public. It consists of five levels; three stories above ground and two below. The face of the facility is the 1st floor lobby adjacent to Jingu-michi road, which features Maditation hall, café and a gift shop. Crossing a bridge from Chion-in-michi Road, “Gallery Wajun” is placed at the entrance hall on the first basement level. This floor is another face of Wajun-Kaikan, with a restaurant named “Kasui-an” . The 2nd basement level contains the multi-functional room called “Wajun-Hall.” This space works in conjunction with a light court that brings in light, wind and water to this level. There are also large bathrooms for the guests located on the same level. The 2nd and 3rd floor have 50 guest rooms ranging in styles from Japanese, Western, Japanese-Western, and barrier free. (Capacity of 170 guests) Renewal of the approach: Learning from archived records, the approach to Sanmon has been revived as a space desirable for visitors to escape the noises of daily life and to be led to the head temple. “Open mind with the nature, think deeply, and then you achieve guidance to find hope - it’s the approach that inspires your mind to face the society once again.” The approach surrounded by various greenery and the materials from the nature softly invites visitors to Sanmon. |

The JR Kumamoto Building (AMU PLAZA) is the principal facility in the development of the area around the station. Located in the building are retail stores, restaurants, a cinema complex, wedding hall, hotel, and parking. Always bustling with people enjoying shopping or dining out together, as well as the employees there, the building is more like a small town. As a gateway to Kumamoto, the new commercial complex greatly enhances the appeal of the city. The vertical garden (Adventure Garden) in the building symbolizes the nature of Kumamoto. It has a vertical topography structured with trees and waterfalls located all through the building. It allows visitors to see nature right before them, the moment they arrive at the station. The large-scale indoor garden using a biophilic design philosophy has been realized through pioneering digital simulations and validation using mock-up models. The indoor garden portraying the authentic nature of Kumamoto creates an exceptional space, enabling the facility to stand out from other commercial complexes. With activities in the station building and the station square livening up the surrounding areas, the building also serves as a symbol of Kumamoto’s recovery after the great earthquake in 2016. |
