The old museum had become obsolete, it was a matter of urgency to provide improved protections to preserve national treasures stored in the museum, especially the statue of Unchu Kuyo Bosatsu. The primary objective of the museum was to improve storage environments of the national treasures and many other cultural heritages by introducing latest technologies to the precincts of the temple
registered as a world heritage site; it became the first museum owned by an ecclesiastical corporation whose exhibits would be open to public.
