Social Insurance Agency of Japan built this Kyushu Kosei Nenkin Hospital as the key hospital with 575 beds in Kurosaki Area, the sub-center in Kita-Kyushu city. The hospital has rooftop gardens, harmonious with the surrounding green-rich natural environment. In the outpatient clinic zone, there is a four-story high open space, bright with natural lights from a large courtyard located outside the open space. This open space functions as entrance lobby for visitors and visitors can easily orient themselves there. In the ward section, a variety of utility-related rooms are scattered along corridors and multi-functional, a vertical sliding window and a cabinet are installed at each bed side. These are some of efforts made to ensure better environment for recuperation and to enhance nursing functions.
Seismically isolated structural system is employed to ensure high structural safety; and perimeter mechanical shaft system is employed to ensure high flexibility in floor planning.
