This Peace Memorial Hall was built in order to pay a tribute to the memory of the sacrifices that died in Nagasaki after exposure to radiation caused by the atomic bombing and to commemorate everlasting peace. The hall, located in the city of Nagasaki that suffered from the second atomic bombing in Japan, also aims to enable people throughout the world to understand the horrors of the atomic bombing and to pass on the memories of the experience to future generations. This is the first national facility to this goal.
