| @Brief description of project | Life under the Roof This project is a new four-year university founded by Kanagawa Prefecture. In order to create a clear identity and sense of place, and to produce a syntactical unity to the campus architecture and the various spaces that connect them, we convinced of a majestic roof to reflect the presence of the architecture and provide a strong symbolism to the place. We matched both the overall design and individual elements of the architecture to the keywords-gEco campushgsafety campushgBarrier-free campushand gsustainable campush , and create a system that would unify the design concept. The university is comprised of two wings: a research and education wing and welfare wing . The entire research and education wing and the roof are designed with vibration isolation structure. Creating plaza with a large roof cover that interiorizes the space between two wings. The impressions of the spaces created by the layering of elements, as well as the scenery and activities that will develop in the space, will transform the campus into an urban landscape. |2004 BCS prize| |
